DAY 3                Destination - Iceline Trail to Takakkaw Falls

Although this was to be our last day, we still had a great hike ahead of us. Once leaving the valley and the Little Yoho River, we climb up to the open avalanche slopes of the President Range. We leave the flowers,  trees and ground cover behind us to be replaced by glacial debris from Emerald Glacier. Along the way we take in amazing views of what looks like a moon walk, Emerald Glacier with it's many streams feeding small tarns and of course the spectacular view of Takakkaw Falls before once again dropping down into the lush vegetation and trails end.

Packed and ready to go.

Last view of Stanley Mitchell Hut.

One last look down the valley.

Leaving the flowers behind us.....

......before reaching the barren       Iceline Trail.

A few creeks to cross

Back on the trail again.

The weather served to make the views more dramatic.

Plenty of cairns along the way making for interesting statues.

Getting our first glimpse of Takakkaw Falls.

What better place for a picture!

Right Harry?

Someone spent a lot of time building very nice steps to make our descent easier.

Coco Bear and Pumpkin enjoy the views.

What's Joanne doing? Hiding from the bears?

Who's this scruffy fellow?

Once again returning to the lush valley

Very thick vegetation

The last few meters to trails end.

Takakkaw Falls in all it's splendor.

A somewhat tired, but otherwise very happy crew at the end of a great trip.

Even though we had a mixed bag of weather the trip was still fabulous. The same trail can look totally different in the mist and rain than in bright sunshine. Always worth going no matter what.

Many thanks to Vic for his contribution of photos, especially his panoramic shots. And thanks to everyone for a great trip. We welcome and comments, suggestions or corrections to the web site.

End of Day 3.
