back

Nine of us from the Calgary Outdoor Club had an awesome ride starting on the Heart Creek trail. We started with some very fun twisting trails on the beginning of the Heart Creek Trail. From there it was a pleasant climb up Quaite to the start of the descent on Jewel Pass. After some heavy rains there were a few big puddles to wade through but the descent down Jewel was great. Another climb up Prairie View has us at the top of the old Bow Race course which runs down to the Scout Camp. This trail proved to be even more challenging than usual as all the roots were still very wet. From the Scout camp we found a meandering path that brought us almost all the way back to the heart creek trail. We encountered Ma black bear with 3 cubs on the trail near Heart Creek. Lots of hooting and hollering got us back to the cars with no problems.  (Please click on pics to see bigger version.)

Opps, she's down

Kim flies across the roots.... ......and cleans the drop off.

Brad has no problems on the descent.
He was going so fast I didn't have time to
catch him on the next steep section.

Pat nailed this section.

Rand hesitates on a steep section but gives 'er through the roots.

Michal's not bothered by the roots.
He's got a big smile on his face.

Frank's keeping his eye on the trail.

You'd almost think Brad took time out for a swim or something.
