Travel day to Campbell Icefields
Day 1 - Arrival at Campbell Lodge
Our trip starts in Donald which is just west of
Golden, B.C. It was a warm cloudy day when we loaded the helicopter
for the short flight into the lodge.
It's amazing that we can squeeze all that
gear into the helicopter plus 16 bodies. |

We quickly dumped our gear into the lodge, spent and hour or two practicing
transceiver searches and hit the slopes behind the lodge. |

Day 2...
Tree skiing below the lodge. Before heading out for the day Jesse de Montigny , our
custodian and soon to be assistant ACMG ski guide, and his wife Christine,
offered to show us the procedure for locating a deep burial. |

Roy, John B. and Christine dug a two meter deep pit and buried a pack. |

It was socked in and snowing heavily for most of the day so we broke into
groups and skied the trees below the lodge. Thanks to Jesse for showing us
some amazing tree slopes that we hadn't found the previous year. |

There were huge snow bombs to watch out for. You wouldn't want to be hit by
one of them. |
